Solar Summit Freiburg 2008 on Silicon Materials for Photovoltaics
Messe München, Freiburg Wirtschaft Touristik und Messe GmbH and
the Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme ISE launch a
series of own congresses on solar energy in Freiburg. Theme of the premiere event in 2008 is Silicon Materials for Photovoltaics
An
international trade congress on Silicon Materials for Photovoltaics is taking
place between 22 and 24 October 2008 in the Concert Hall Congress Centre (Konzerthaus) in Freiburg.
It is the kick-off event in the congress series entitled ‘Solar Summits
Freiburg’, which is organised by Messe
München in cooperation with Freiburg Wirtschaft
Touristik und Messe GmbH (FWTM) and the Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme ISE.
This new congress series takes the form of annual events which focus on the
latest research findings and their application in the field of renewable energy
and energy efficiency.
Topic 2008: Silicon Materials for Photovoltaics
Statement of the Chairman
 "Crystalline
Si will remain the dominant PV technology for a long time, the current
shortage will be overcome by increased production of pure Si
and the use of thin-film and other alternative technologies.
The introduction of purified (upgraded) metallurgical Si is
one of the most interesting current technology challenges. It could be
critical to speed up the growth of the world PV production even
further.
The first Solar Summit in Freiburg will provide a forum for in-depth discussions
of the future of crystalline Si Photovoltaics in competition with other techniques." Prof. Eicke R. Weber Director of Fraunhofer-Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE Please find here the complete statement and the presentation of the first Solar Summits Freiburg press conference in June 2008. |
